Education: Breaking the vicious cycle of poverty
A child’s future is highly dependent on accessibility to education. H4H serves children’s educational needs through our sponsorship and scholarship programs.
Education Sponsorship
Hands for Hope’s education sponsorship projects aim to promote affordability and equity in education. This is done by means of helping children from disadvantaged backgrounds, such as orphans and ethnic minorities in remote and underprivileged areas of Vietnam, to attain basic education in the early and late primary years.
There are currently over 800 students being sponsored through this program. All the students are from very poor families living in remote regions of Vietnam, who cannot afford the cost of basic education for their children. H4H project coordinators work closely with our representatives in Vietnam, who are usually the nuns or sisters living in the area, to select the children and monitor their education progress. We have direct and regular contact with the students to ensure we continue to encourage them to stay in school and do well.
The sponsorship fully covers school fees and the cost of uniform and text books. Any remaining funds are pooled together to provide special awards for high achieving students, eg: a student who achieves high distinction results for two consecutive years can be awarded with a bicycle to go to school.
The cost to sponsor is $50 per year per student and is renewed annually. This is a very small amount for many of us but it provides a life changing opportunity for these children. Sponsors receive a profile of the student and yearly results. Please contact us today to become a sponsor.
