8 Hours for Hope (8H4H)

Most of us go to work every day, we make money to support ourselves and our family, but have you ever had a thought of why not do something different, something that adds new meaning to your day at work - that is to work not for your own benefits but for the poor children in Vietnam.

H4H launched its first "8 Hours For Hope" on the 12th of December 2005. We hope our members will be enthusiastic in participating in this new campaign.

Any individual or a group can donate a day or part of a working day's income to Hands for Hope, to allow much needed work to continue in helping disadvantage children in Vietnam. This is a new & exciting way to contribute to a good cause. The funds generated will be used to support our education projects as well as other projects such as medical or infrastructure initiatives.

Be it a teacher, a factory worker, a lawyer, an accountant, everyone can participate in this event by ‘giving a hand to make a difference.’

We would like to see 8 Hours For Hope be recognised and become an annual event. On this particular day, participants from different professions and industries will come to work just like any other day but with one difference, knowing their effort on that day will help the children in Vietnam help themselves out of illiteracy and poverty”. Mr Cuong Tran, Hands For Hope Project Director.

Medic On Call - A Doctor Day's Work for H4H

“8 Hours For Hope” (8H4H) is an exciting initiative hosted by Medic OnCall a medical locum service based in Victoria, where by doctors take part in locum work and donate partial or all of their income of the day to Hands for Hope. All monies raised will be distributed among many of our projects helping disadvantaged children in Vietnam giving them a helping hand to a brighter future.

The event aims at raising money for Hands for Hope’s existing projects in helping needy children through education in Vietnam. I would encourage all doctors to participate and give a small portion of their locum to this worthwhile event” Dr Joseph Sgroi of Medic OnCall.

We are pleased to see business partners like Medic OnCall collaborating on this new and exciting initiative. We want to congratulate Medic OnCall for their great efforts in this initiative” Dr Khiem Ngo, co-founder of Hands For Hope.

Ten doctors have already registered to take part in this unique event. Their donation of a day’s earning would allow up to 150 students to have an opportunity to continue their schooling for another year.

Following the successful trial of “8 Hours For Hope” hosted by Medic Oncall, Hands For Hope officialy launched “8 Hours For Hope” on Monday the 12th of December 2005.
