Walk-a-Thon
Bản Tiếng Việt (Vietnamese version)
"Two roads diverged in a wood,
And I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."
Robert Frost – The Road Not Taken
The above poem by Robert Frost, ‘The Road Not Taken’ has many profound interpretations. The ‘road less traveled’ can be good or perhaps even bad, depending on the choices we make in life. Life can be seen as unpredictable and random.
Basically it is about the ‘choices’ you make in life...
For some children in the third world countries, like Vietnam for instance, there is no choice. ‘Choice’ is very much dependent on society. Take education for example, it is a privileged to go to school in Vietnam if you have financial support. Without this financial support, the only choice’s these children’s have is a life of poverty.
Hands for Hope organises a Walk-a-thon every year to try and raise enough money to offer this ‘choice’ of a better education to these children. With a choice, it will ultimately lead to a better life.
This year the Walk-a-thon was held at Yarra Bend Park, a new and fresh location as compared to the two previous years. The Walk-a-thon traditionally attracts many young enthusiastic individuals and other diverse groups. The aim is not primarily to fundraise, but also to promote a sense of fun through exercising and active participation in social activities.
We would like to thank all our friends, sponsors and other associations who have contributed to this year’s successful Walk-a-thon.
The total money raised from this year’s Walk-a-thon event was $9,000.
