K' Nai Educational Sponsorship Project

Location

K' Nai, Lâm Đồng province in Central Vietnam.

Background for project

To sponsor children so that they can receive an education at their local schools. The sponsorship covers school fees, school uniforms, text books and stationaries.

Current situation

The ethnic minorities living in these regions have to endure harsh condition of the barren land, and most of them earn a living by performing manual labours for very little pay.

Schools are over an hour walking distance away and the majority of the children do not go to school because their parents cannot afford to pay for it. The children stay at home and help out by collecting dried dungs for up to five hours a day, to have enough to sell (to be used as fuels), making an equivalent of 40 Australian cents.
